- read p. 284 - 286 - q. 24 and 25- copy chart on p. 284 - Figure 10-9 and p. 286 - Figure 10-10

The Canadian Criminal Court System:
- read p. 287 - 291 - q. 30, 31, 32 - 36 and 40- copy chart on p. 287 - Figure 10-11

The Final Steps in a Criminal Trial:
- read p. 291 - 292 - q. 44 - 46

What are the 10 Legal Rights of Canadians listed in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms? (Fig. 10-4)
What does Equality Before and Under the Law refer to? (p.276)
Read p. 278-279 – questions 14 – 16
Define – plaintiff, defendant, summons, statement, and torts
Read p. 281 – 283 – questions 18 – 20

IF NOT COMPLETE THE ABOVE IN CLASS IT IS FOR HOMEWORK.

Rights and Responsibilities/Citizen Participation

Today we....

1. Current Events - "Duceppe threatens to topple government over Afghan mission" - students had to read the article and write one paragraph on the 5 w's and how and one paragraph on their opinion.

4. Human Rights Commission, Canadian Bill of Rights, and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms - overhead/discussion

5. Assignment - read p. 268-270 - q. 1-3, read p.271-274 - q. 7, define - duties, freedom, common law, statues, entrenched, summarize the 10 sections of the charter of rights and freedoms and what is the human rights commission?
