Global Trade Networks
Today we.....
1. Reviewed/discussed the growth of global trading networks.
2. Reviewed the Venn Diagram - we looked at the unique attributes and the shared attributes of the international trade network the Silk Road AND mercantilism.
3. We then went to the lab to begin researching the Hudson's Bay Company and the British East India Company - two mercantilist companies.
We will continue tomorrow.
Globalization, the process by which the world’s citizens are becoming increasingly connected and interdependent, demands that students explore responsibilities associated with local and global citizenship and formulate individual responses to emergent issues related to globalization. Recognizing and appreciating the influence of globalization will lead students to develop individual and collective responses to emergent issues.

Sensitive Reading of Historical Documents cont....
To what extent should contemporary society respond to the legacies of historical globalization? (unit inquiry question)

1. Current Events......Biofuel, Tibet, Semi going the wrong way on Yellowhead.....
2. Sensitive reading....
- we reviewed "judging" cultural practices
- then looked at "interpreting" cultural practices - completed a practice
- then looked at "generalizations' of cultural practices - complete a practice for homework.
3. Chapter 7 Assignment - To what extent did historical globalization affect people's lives?
- read pgs. 134-136, create notes, concept web etc. on important points
