Globalization, the process by which the world’s citizens are becoming increasingly connected and interdependent, demands that students explore responsibilities associated with local and global citizenship and formulate individual responses to emergent issues related to globalization. Recognizing and appreciating the influence of globalization will lead students to develop individual and collective responses to emergent issues.

The Ghost and the Darkness
Today we...
When students returned to class from the Theatre Performance we finished the movie.
The assignment was to;
1. In a 1/2 page discuss the examples/aspects of imperialism from the movie.
Answer the following;
2. Are the "Tsavos Lions" symbolic of anything?
3. What is the "British" perspective of imperialism?
4. What is the "African/Aboriginal" perspective of imperialism?

What values underlie capitalism?

1. Brainstorm - the values associated with capitalism
- respect for profit, competition, economic freedom, personal responsibility, and consumerism.
students were encouraged to think of possible downsides/disadvantages to these values.

Global Trade Networks
Global Trade Networks
Today we.....
1. Reviewed/discussed the growth of global trading networks.
2. Reviewed the Venn Diagram - we looked at the unique attributes and the shared attributes of the international trade network the Silk Road AND mercantilism.
3. We then went to the lab to begin researching the Hudson's Bay Company and the British East India Company - two mercantilist companies.
We will continue tomorrow.
